3/30/2020 0 Comments The Shadow“When you bring your shadow into the light, it no longer has power over you” -Caroline Myss
The Shadow: The shadow of the self, our shadow, resides in our subconscious and without awareness to bring it to light, or to consciousness, it remains hidden and thus unknown. It is in charge of the most influential parts of your life and it does so without any supervision. The Collective Shadow: When moral righteousness, entitlement, and superiority are strong beliefs in groups, congregations, societies, or nations, the collective shadow is present. Collective projections in groups create an us-versus-them mentality, usually based upon traits such as race, colour, sexual orientation, and politics. This is currently clearly visible in the United States as people are separated by their political beliefs, where race and sexual orientation are some of the clear segregating factors between groups. How To Encounter The Shadow: Bringing the shadow to consciousness can help us heal past wounds, become aware of what drives us and allows us to correct inappropriate behaviours. 1) Be aware of what feelings others provoke you to feel. Good or bad. The disdain we feel by the actions and behaviors of others is most certainly created by the contempt we have toward those very qualities that lie deep within ourselves. Our feelings and emotions experienced toward others can be viewed as a map of our subconscious. The only reason we are able to recognize qualities in others is because we ourselves are capable of displaying them. I just didn’t agree with this statement at first. I didn’t understand how it could possibly be true in all instances. After spending years with it, letting it sink in each time I heard it again, I came to see that although I may not behave just like that person that annoys me so, those qualities lie within and rear their ugly heads when I least expect it. Like many of us, I’ve had experience with people who like to have me do what it is they want me to do. It doesn’t give me the feeling of freedom which I cherish and so I made a pact with myself ages ago that I would never choose to behave this way with others. One day in a fairly desperate and emotionally driven attempt at keeping my friend away from her emotionally abusive boyfriend, I behaved in the very way I had decided I would never do. Just like that, my pact with myself was broken. Yes, I had a legitimate reason to behave in the way that I did, but did that make my actions any better or more effective? It certainly did not. Later I reflected on our interaction and decided that my friend most likely did not appreciate being told what she should and shouldn’t do. I also realised that she was an adult and would likely just do what she wanted anyway. I was mortified and I apologized to her immediately. Those qualities we hate in others are within. They are buried deep and often come out when we are the least bit conscious and more so reactive or defensive in an unexpected situation. That brings me to my next point. 2) Reflect upon your words and actions to unexpected and emotionally charged events. If you find yourself in an argument or an altercation and suddenly there you are pulling out the knives, reflect. Any emotionally charged moment is a perfect opportunity to assess your behaviour and thus your deep-seated beliefs, your shadow. Emotional moments pull from the subconscious data bank and before we know it we’ve said or done something we regret. Time to examine. And to forgive yourself. We can learn an incredible amount from those we love, and even more from those whom we do not. As we find ourselves in a time of uncertainty, it may be giving rise to our survival instincts and thus I have outlined the archetypes that best acknowledge this. The Survival Archetypes: “The Child, Victim, Prostitute, and Saboteur are all deeply involved in your most pressing challenges related to survival.” -Caroline Myss An archetype is a character that represents the patterns of human nature. Understanding these particular archetypes, bringing their shadow into the light, can turn them into your trusted allies. Each of them representing struggles with fear and vulnerabilities, that can become spiritual and physical strengths. Your response to the challenges presented to you and your manner of interacting with people is all up to you. If your choices are made unconsciously and you act defensively and from a place of fear, you may not be learning and growing from the opportunities presented to you. The more we chose to be conscious and aware of the archetypes influencing our behaviour, the more positive our lessons will be. The Child: The Child is a representation of our playfulness, it is that part of us that yearns to be lighthearted and innocent. Our balance between fun and responsibility. The energy of a balanced child is positively compelling. They bring out the best in others and are a joy to be with. The Wounded Child: The Wounded Child is a version of the Child that many resonate with as it holds the memories of abuse and neglect, traumas and wounds collected during childhood. On the positive, the deep sense of pain can create sympathy and a drive to aid and teach other wounded children. The shadow side of the Wounded Child is the tendency to blame failed relationships and life achievements on our parents as they are seen as the creators of this archetype. The Victim: The Victim can become a strong ally, keeping you abreast of situations where you are about to be victimized through passivity or inappropriate actions. It can also show you when you are about to victimize others. Learning the nature of the Victim within can bring incredible insight. In its shadow, we enjoy the benefits of receiving sympathy, pity, and attention from others. We are never at fault and we are always being taken advantage of. Our goal is always to identify these inappropriate attitudes and correct our behaviours. To get in touch with your inner victim, ask yourself these questions:
The Prostitute: Unlike its name suggests, the Prostitute isn’t necessarily about sexual interactions but rather the selling yourself, your soul, your morals and values, or your spirit, for something in return. Almost like selling your soul to the devil! Personally, I worked for a company where I didn’t agree with their pay structure and policies. I knew how much the guys at the top made while those in the warehouse needed another full-time job along with a partner to share bills with just to survive. I didn’t believe in the owner or his word and felt he had a lack of ethics. I also didn’t particularly enjoy working out of that office, it was miserable but I did so for longer than I thought possible for the almighty paycheque. It was a reliable income that allowed me to get my schooling done and my ducks in a row before I went after something more meaningful that aligned with my values. From her, we can learn to not compromise our body, mind, and spirit. No longer for sale! To identify the prostitute, you may ask yourself:
The Saboteur: The purpose of the Saboteur is to recognize the ways in which we undermine ourselves. Its issues are all rooted in self-esteem and are demonstrated in the choices we make that block our own successes. Once you face it, it will alert you in situations where you are about to be sabotaged. Getting to know the Saboteur you may ask:

3/26/2020 0 Comments The Viral FocusHow we can choose to stay strong and be healthy.
A viral infection, such as the flu and the coronavirus we’ve been hearing so much about, is the effect of a virus having breached our body’s defense system. These infections are not treatable with antibiotics and the vast majority can be effectively fought by the body’s own immune system. The immune system is set up like an old castle you’d expect to find in a Harry Potter book. Like a moat around the castle, the body’s first line of defense is a physical barrier, consisting mainly of bacteria, mucus, tears, and stomach acid. The bacteria lines our skin, our mouths, and our esophagus to our stomach and intestines. A breach in this physical barrier brings us to the second line of defense inside the bloodstream where macrophages and neutrophils are like the sentries who stand guard to destroy invaders. Other mechanisms such as fevers and inflammation are used to heat up the body making it rather uncomfortable and difficult for the pathogens to survive. Similar to soldiers, the third line of defense comprises of T cells and B cells. The white blood cell B cells are in charge of secreting antibodies that bind to foreign substances that have invaded the body, while the killer T cells locate the virus-infected cells and destroy them. It is when these three lines of defense have been compromised that we get sick and diseases can take hold. Is it possible then to keep this castle strong and responsive to invasion? Let’s focus on a few things that may help to increase our odds! Food Focus: Just like you may enjoy devouring sugary treats, so do pathogens. A body without sweet treats is like a bee without honey, a dog without a bone, a paperboy without newspapers… it’s less attractive to any pathogen. Sugar is known to completely halt the immune system for a matter of minutes or even hours giving these unwanted microbes a clear entry into our bodies while we indulge in some sweet snack. Limiting or eliminating sugar from your diet is a hugely rewarding step toward keeping healthy intestinal gut bacteria. Lowering sugar intake can also contribute to lowering inflammation in the joints and of course weight loss. Sauerkraut (the kind made without vinegar and found in the fridge), miso, kimchi, and yogurt, as well as kefir and kombucha, are all rich in probiotics and help keep your internal ecosystem strong. Additionally taking a quality probiotic can be extremely valuable especially when warding off infection or planning to travel. If you are especially concerned and want to boost up your prevention tactics, chop a clove of garlic, add it to an ounce of juice and toss it back before bed. Garlic has powerful antibacterial and antifungal properties and has been known to ward off evils! Emotional Focus: Emotional stress has a physical impact in many areas of the body, for most people. It can increase our blood pressure, create sugar imbalances, place undue pressure on the liver, slow down our digestive process, cloud our thinking, and halt our immune system in its tracks! for original article: https://healthfulguide.com/blogs/health/coffee-chat-with-auricular-practitioner-renee-pelletier As a holistic practitioner in dietetics, I believe there is more to a person than just the physical body that houses us. For years I’ve experimented with energy work (mostly for my own enjoyment and growth) and I’m fascinated by people who use energy as a tool to help the body heal. I’ve known about Reiki for some time, but it was not until recently that I discovered the practice of Auricular Medicine from my friend and colleague, Renée Pelletier. Renée is an Auricular Medicine Practitioner in Vancouver, British Columbia. We recently sat down for a coffee and she told me all about her journey into holistic medicine as the only Auricular Medicine Practitioner on the Canadian West Coast. Here’s how that conversation went… ER: How would you describe what you do?RP: Basically, I use energy and the human pulse to help the body in its healing process. Auricular Medicine is an energetic technique that encompasses a few different modalities, of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Homeopathy, using the pulse to find out what’s going on in the body. We all have an electromagnetic field around the body and I can determine where that field is around your body - if it’s really close or if it’s really far away, by feeling your pulse. When your field moves (which it will when I introduce a stimulus like a certain food for example), it will give me information about what the body needs more or less of. So it’s really just another way of reading the body to assist it in its healing journey. ER: How did Auricular Medicine come to be?RP: Around 50 years ago, group of European practitioners of homeopathy and Traditional Medicine came together and decided there should be an easier way to determine how to help the body heal. They realized that the pulse could give them important insight into the body that they weren’t currently using. My teacher, Dr. Mikhael Adams was involved in this group for some time and it took them a while to fully understand it, develop it and then simplify it to become what it is today. It was a bit difficult to work with at the start but now has evolved into a practice that is possible for anyone to develop the skills. That’s why you see more and more practitioners popping up in recent years but they are mostly on the east coast at the moment. ER: How do you think Auricular Medicine complements other practitioners and the medical system as a whole?RP: It can stand alone and also be quite complementary, especially for conventional medical care. For example, say someone has cancer and needed surgery to remove the tumour. Well they are best served to do that the in traditional medical system - only a trained medical surgeon can do that work. But where I can help is with the healing process AFTER that surgery. For example, I could help remove toxicity from the body from the drugs they were taking - help to clear things out and create a higher potential for healing. ER: How does that compare to other energetic work, such as Reiki for example?RP: A lot of people ask me that actually. They assume I do something like Reiki. I am not a Reiki practitioner but from what I understand of the practice, it works to MOVE energy in the body. The body is all about the flow of energy and if that energy gets clogged or stagnant, that’s when disease can set in. Reiki helps to move the the flow of energy and communication in the body (just like blood flow between cells). Auricular Medicine by contrast does not move any energy around, but rather uses energy and the pulse to assesses where blockages might be, and what the body is going through to figure out what steps to healing are required. Once we know what the body needs, sometimes I use remedies like homeopathic to assist healing and other times I will send clients to other practitioners - like medical doctors, naturopaths, chiropractor or even a Reiki practitioner - if that’s what your body calls for. ER: What does a session look like? Can you take me through the process?RP: When someone comes in for a session, we start by having a chat about what they are going through in life at that time and go through a bit of a history. For example, past traumas or stresses, any recurring issues, etc… Next, I put that all aside and start the session. I take them into my office, have them lie down on my table and I start to feel their pulse. I would begin by checking all their organ systems and see if anything stands out to me. The process is kind of like peeling off layers of an onion. The body will show me the FIRST thing that it would like addressed - what the biggest priority is. Once I find that and deal with it, then the next thing will pop up. And the sessions are different for everyone. For some it may be physical, and for others emotional (or both). But the body usually wants to deal with one thing at a time. And continuing to peeling off the layers - one at a time - can often reveal things at the core that have been there for a really long time. ER: How did you get involved in this practice?RP: It’s been a long journey. A long time ago I had some digestive troubles myself. And I went to every doctor but no one had any answers for me. Finally I went to see a chiropractor who happened to know a thing or two about nutrition. He gave me some tips on dietary changes and he was the first person to help me feel any different. That experience created an interest in food and I eventually went on to become a Registered Holistic Nutritionist. After that, I started practicing with food, but I still felt like there was more for me to explore with respect to the body and helping it heal. So I did more research and schooling and eventually someone introduced me to this Auricular Medicine class. The man teaching it was a brilliant man; Dr. Mikhael Adams. He’s an exceptional teacher and very passionate about helping people heal. The process is so simple yet extremely effective and I quickly fell in love with it. ER: What was your first personal experience with the practice?RP: My first session was actually in class in front of all my colleagues - and it got really emotional! Before I got on the table my teacher warned me, “ok, you’re going in front of every body…it’s a bit like getting naked.” But I really wanted to try it so I got up on that table. All of a sudden all these emotions came pouring out of me. It was just stuff that needed to come out I guess. I still have a hard time explaining what happened to me that day but I can say that I got a lot of healing from it and I immediately felt the power of this work. From that day I knew I wanted to share it with others. ER: What kinds of physical issues do people most commonly see you about?RP: People go through a wide array of symptoms or things that make them uncomfortable inside their bodies, but the most common I find are food allergies and sensitivities, undiagnosed gut aches and pains, weight issues, indigestion and poor elimination, and overall toxicity in the body. As much as we all want to eat well, there’s still a lot of toxicity around us - from what’s in the air, emotional stresses and others. All those things need to be cleared out of the liver and the liver gets overloaded. Its just not made for the amount of toxicity that our bodies are exposed to today. ER: It also sounds like you deal with a lot of emotional stuff. Where does the line blur between Auricular Medicine and Psychotherapy?RP: I don’t have any professional training in psychology, but I have found that sometimes just creating a safe space for someone to let go can go a long way. It can be really effective to help people clear things out or work through some emotional stuff because not everyone gets the opportunity to get help from a counsellor or physiotherapist - or they may not even realize they need help in that area. So having a safe space on my table to talk things out or maybe even let out a little cry can go a long way. ER: With all the energy and emotions flying around, what does it feel like on your end as a practitioner?RP: It’s very interesting because everyone is different. Everyone's pulse feels a bit different and everyone will have a different reaction to the process. I’ve had people who have had absolutely no reaction whatsoever, making them very difficult to read. Other people feel EVERYTHING. I would introduce a remedy to their body and immediately they would react strongly. Like “what is THAT?” Or someone will immediately begin to cry because of that remedy so it’s really interesting on the other side of the table. For me, it’s most important that I stay grounded. After all, I am just a conduit. I am not actually the one who’s helping you heal anything. I’m just here to asses and listen and whatever comes through I’m there to read it and help you with it. You’re the one who’s actually in charge of your health. ER: It sounds like you need to be fairly intuitive to do what you do. Have you always been intuitive?RP: You’re right. You do have to be fairly “feely” to do this work. I suppose I have been fairly intuitive most of my life - but certainly not always. There was a time when I was much younger when there was none of that. I think I blocked myself from it because I had felt so much pain from humans that I remember thinking “People suck. Nothing feels very good.” I blocked myself off from feeling much of anything. My relationships were dull, everything was pretty dull and my intuitive sense was either missing or I couldn’t hear it. And eventually I wanted it back. So I sought it out. I did some research and took some classes that I thought would help my intuition grow, I started to meditate, until my “feely superpowers” come back. [laughing] ER: If we assume that “feely powers” are much like a muscle - and if you don’t use it, you loose it - how do you keep your intuitive muscles strong? What does mindfulness exercise look like?RP: Well, meditation is certainly a big part. I listen to some amazing audiobooks and podcasts about the law of attraction and practice affirmations. I’m in a routine right now where I’m trying to do specific affirmations right when I wake up, and then when I’m in the shower. The more I get into it, the more I’m thinking about those things throughout the day. ER: For someone who may be just starting out in building their intuition, do you have any advice for what the first few steps might be?RP: Ya, the easiest and cheapest way would be learning to meditate. You don’t even have to do it on your own. There are apps everywhere that can help. Download a free app and plug in your earphones and just listen to someone. It’s super easy and inexpensive. Just let someone in your ear, guiding you to sleep or through some thought exercises. That’s the beginning of the process. The more and more you do that, the easier and easier it’s will be to calm your brain and train it. You will start to look within and you’ll be able to develop your “feely” powers as you go. Ah the dreaded yeast infection... I wish we didn’t have to talk about it let alone get it, but that would just be too easy wouldn’t it?! We all get them so we might as well understand why and how we can clear them naturally. WHAT IS A YEAST INFECTION?
Our bodies are ecosystems that contain trillions of different types of bacteria. The bacteria found in our gut is of most importance. They provide the first line of defence as part of our immune system by keeping other larger more harmful bacteria and viruses in check and away from our bloodstream. They help us digest our food and provide us with nutrients like vitamin B and K. When there is an imbalance of these all too important bacteria, yeast or fungus start to grow in larger numbers in the gut and in the vagina causing an infection. In many cases this causes an unpleasant itchiness which often is accompanied by whitish discharge and sometimes odour. Just what we need down there! THE CAUSE An imbalance of bacteria can come from an overload of toxicity, such as chemicals found in the air that we breathe, and in our food. It very easily happens when we take medications such as antibiotics. A change in hormones can sometimes be the culprit as well. Lesser known reasons include meat consumption as conventionally raised meats contain a low dosage of anti-biotics. The use of products like Splenda have been observed in scientific studies to reduce the good intestinal bacteria by as much as half, from one single serving sized packet! The really bad news with all of this is that intestinal bacteria take years to return to the intestines, adhere and thrive. In the meantime, we will be left vulnerable to infections of all kinds, allergies, loss of nutrients and an overgrowth of yeast! CONVENTIONAL TREATMENT The conventional treatment for a fungal/ yeast infection is an over the counter medication, Clotrimazole which usually comes in a suppository tablet and a topical cream. According to Drugs.com this medication can be harmful to the liver in some cases and can cause side effects such as stomach cramps and nausea, skin rashes, blistering, burning, itching and irritation. These don’t happen to everyone of course, as I have never experienced them myself, so you may just be ok. NATURAL/ ALTERNATIVE TREATMENT I am always looking for the most natural approach because that’s what resonates with me so here it is: 1. Eliminating sugars This is always the #1 most important step. Only once we eliminate or minimize our sugar intake can we really get these critters under control. This is best done by eliminating all refined sugars from the diet and minimizing the intake of grains. Grains: corn, wheat, rye, oats, rice and barley. Potatoes will also be helpful to reduce as they are very starchy and break down into sugar. 2. Garlic - the antibacterial/ fungal master The quickest remedy is to gently peel a piece, being careful not to cut into it and pop it into your vagina, leaving it there overnight. Yes you will have what I like to call ‘garlic vag’ in the morning but well worth it! Your itchiness will likely be complete history by then. Getting it out can be the fun part. The easiest way I’ve found is to hunker down and push like you would a good poop first thing in the morning. Some prefer the 'soap on a rope' method of piercing and tying it with a string. The string will sometimes cut through the clove when you go to pull it out, leaving you empty handed. Another idea is to chop up raw garlic and shoot it back with an ounce of water or orange juice before bed. 3. Candigen by Genestra A human strain probiotic suppository that is easy to use and works like a charm! You can use this instead of the garlic or even better as a follow up the next evening. There isn’t much warning as to when a yeast infection will make itself known so you may not have any of this product in your fridge, in which case you can use the garlic until you get some. A great combo. 4. Berberis Formula by Genestra This herbal preparation containing berberine is indicated for parasitic, bacterial/ viral infections, and candidiasis. Perfect. From personal experience this formula is a life saver and warrants a spot in your cupboard for a variety of infections from a simple cold to a killer viral infection. This is a keeper. 5. Probiotics These are what help keep a healthy normal environment in the intestinal tract by keeping yeast and fungi in check and helping your immune system stay strong. Probiotics, meaning 'pro-life', need to be replenished after each course of antibiotics, but more importantly they act as a preventative to traveller’s diarrhoea and other bugs contracted in a variety of ways when taken regularly. Probiotics are needing to be alive in order to have an effect on the gut and for them to be alive they must be kept cold. I prefer to use Genestra’s HMF line because they are made with human strain probiotics which means they adhere to the gut lining for maximum benefit and each batch is tested before it is accepted into the warehouse for distribution. I also like BioK as it is a live probiotic food which comes in a variety of bases such as rice, milk, soy and coconut. CONCLUSION Yeast infections are fairly simple to take care of but are also a sign of an important bigger picture. If we can address it at the root, we have a much better chance in keeping our defences strong, bugs and viruses out, and as new research indicates, prevent bigger troubles ahead such as diabetes, cholesterol, and allergies. http://www.drugs.com/pro/clotrimazole-lozenge.htmlReferences 4/15/2017 0 Comments Eco-friendly Moon Time?'Moon time' because a woman's cycle is governed by the moon. My goal; to work on the unresolved feelings I have with the last man I dated, wealth, and the relationship I have with my mother. Answer the questions as best you can, he says, usually the first thing that pops into your head is right, even if it doesn't completely make sense. He begins; How much money are you allowed to make? I answer; - 120Gs per year How much are you allowed to keep? - 80Gs Where does the rest need to go? - to my parents Do you have siblings? - no I feel a brother energy, interesting. It feels like you have a brother that you are paying back, that you are karmically trying to repair the relationship with using money. (here I began to tear up. I felt something) Are you allowed to make more money than your parents? - no Is it disrespectful to do so? - yes Two things are happening that I have not mentioned; Upon giving him an answer, he can tell if that answer doesn't quite feel right for me and asks me about it. Every time it doesn't quite feel right when I say it, he catches me! After finding the answer to these questions, he asks if I will allow him to clear the energy around that, then he doeshis clearing process, not entirely sure what that entails. You are a healer aren't you? - yes And your parents don't respect your line of work? - no Do you attract "normal" jobs to get your parents respect? - yes Tell me about your relationship - it was amazing! Everything I ever dreamed of and then one day it got disrespectful little by little until there was no more relationship. You are uncomfortable with amazing! Did you try to fix him? -yes You've been attracting people in relationships that you can fix. Did he mimic your parents' behaviours? -yes Did he do that for you? - yes (mind blowing) What's the relationship between your parents like? - they have been together forever, there is love there but also a lot of victim, persecutor, martyr cycles Do you have any relationships in your life with these dynamics? - yes (big surprise) You are a healer yes? -yes It doesn't have to be so serious your practice. You will attract more people if you have more fun with it. Magic happens everywhere, including in your practice! As I mentioned in the previous blog... this did so much for me so fast it was incredible. If you're looking to move forward or what you want has been really challenging to get... try moving the energy around it. And blast off. Hahaa. Have fun and leave me your experiences if you've had some. Sometimes I find myself in need of a good tune up!
There was a time when I actively sought out energy work. I can say with confidence that it helped me get to where I am today in many ways. Mainly it has developed my emotional maturity, aided me in overcoming pains and trauma I was experiencing and really helped me gain perspective as to why I was going through what I was. I suppose life started rolling a lot more smoothly at some point and seeking out energy clearing got overlooked. The beginning of 2017 brought about the end of a really important relationship in my world. Important in the way that it was filled with so many lessons for me to learn and grow from but also in the way that I was left with a broken heart as I truly thought I had found "the one". Heavy, I know. My energy was less than ideal by this point. My heart was heavy, my excitement of beginning the next phase of my life with my person shattered, my perspective unfocused. My reality changed in an instant and I wasn't prepared. I spent some time grieving of course but eventually I got to a place where I didn't want to grieve anymore, I was ready to feel differently and start my path of recovery but my emotions and thoughts didn't seem to be on the same page as they kept cycling through the same old stuff. After listening to me rehash my relationship over and over, my friend Jessica reminded me of energy work and gave me the number to a healer whom she trusts. I booked a session immediately. A one hour session over the phone is all it took and things started to change. My focus with our session was geared towards my breakup, abundance or lack there of, and how it all tied into my relationship with my mother. My blog on the specifics will be posted next. During the session I began feeling lighter like I was given more space to breathe and be me. The following day emotions compounded and came to a head. I began to feel nauseous and it was like something was digging into my chest. It got so overwhelming that I felt compelled to call the x and see how he was. Let's just say that phone call wasn't very positive and once it was over I cried. It felt like my tears released everything overwhelming and the storm was over. I could breathe again. My emotions released and I could now see clearer. I began recognising the lessons available to me and healing. A couple weeks later I had the opportunity to visit my parents for a week and I took it. I learned more about my mom and dad in this one week than perhaps ever before. It was radical. In summation, I learned how my x's behavior towards me represented that of my own mothers. I now have a far greater understanding of the dynamic we share and who I need to be toward myself in order to fill the approval I have been seeking from my parents for as long as I can remember. The clarity I have with my last relationship is far greater than I could have imagined. I also know that I am not responsible for helping those I love grow emotionally or spiritually. Everyone has their own journey and time-line and they get to decide what they want next. I need to allow people to hit rock bottom (if that is where they are going) so they can be driven to change and choose to pursue it themselves. This has been an emotional time and a time filed with exponential growth. Would I have reached this place without the energy clearing? Quite possibly yes but I am certain it would have taken far longer to achieve. I want to get to where I want to go swiftly, if my relationship is over I want to grieve and learn and be onto the next . After all, there are new people to meet and places to explore, and I won't be here forever so time is of the essence. Also... there is something to be said for feeling good. 1/9/2017 0 Comments Why I chose Holistic NutritionRecently someone asked me why I chose to take Holistic Nutrition in school and how I use it in my profession today. Here is my response;
Somewhere around the age of 24 I got sick with digestive disturbances, an Epstein Barr viral infection and eventually mononucleosis. I was in bad shape. To make things worse, not one doctor or specialist nailed down any of this, instead they sent me home scratching their head. After barium tests, colonoscopies, biopsies, and offers of pain numbing drugs, I saw a Naturopath, then an Acupuncturist, and finally the person who guided me more than anyone else; a talented Chiropractor. After much of my own research on health, he suggested I go to school for what I seemed so passionate about; food. After 4 years of college and 1 at SFU, I was back in school. Something I never thought I would ever do again, let alone be super excited about it. I loved it. For the first time I loved school. My plan back then was to open a super trendy yet healthy restaurant with my new knowledge. Instead I chose to continue my schooling: I studied Auricular Medicine with Doctor Mikhael Adams in Milton Ontario. A background in medicine or holistic nutrition was a must. I had come to the idea that changing your food could change your health and positively affect your body but there still seemed to be a missing piece. Auricular Medicine is that piece for me. With it, one can assess the body and determine exactly what the body needs in order to return to self-healing and auto-regulating. Whether it be emotional, spiritual, or physical, Auricular is a vehicle to assess the body, peel the layers and get to the root of what ails a person. CSNN also lead me to want to strengthen myself spiritually and intuitively so I found myself taking classes such as Theta Healing, Heart Resonance Therapy, Tuning Forks, and what is an ongoing big part of my life today, the Personal Success Institute (PSI). Currently I have a beautiful office in my home as well as a secondary space in the Kushala Yoga and Wellness Center, both in Port Moody. I offer full assessments which include Auricular Medicine as well as a nutrition program complete with recipes tailored specifically for each client. I also offer holistic nutrition packages in case a client is looking to focus solely on diet. When a client calls to say; I feel terrific, I pooped for the first time in a week, I’ve been pooping 3 times a day ever since, I have more energy, I lost 5 pounds, I’m no longer bloated, my periods are no longer painful, my injury has healed and I am back on the mountain… this is my inspiration, my motivation and my fuel to do what I do. In future I will be teaching Auricular Medicine for Doctor Adams, I will also be facilitating workshops for PSI, and continuing to assess clients from home! On my spare time I am an actress, I work behind the scenes in BC Film, I speak on nutrition for a local French radio program, I am learning to be a hiphop dancer, and I’m a bit of a spiritual gangster!

pounding back Advil just to cope while resting around the house. Until I remembered arnica. After one day of taking a homeopathic preparation of arnica consistently, I was off Advil and noticed significant relief. The healing increased daily, until I was back to normal. It truly was amazing.
A broken rib: I met my co-worker Michael just after he had broken his collar bone. He showed me his green and yellow bruised battle wounds immediately upon introducing himself, so I reached for my arnica. Michael said that he was finally experiencing some healing after he’d been taking it for just one day. He’s back to lifting again after a few short weeks and his pain is gone. A rolled ankle: This story is what prompted me to write this post. My co-worker Jimmy rolled his ankle yesterday. Swollen, painful etc etc. I had some arnica cream on me, so I gave him the tube, explained it would help with healing and to try raising his foot if he could. He asked to take it home so he could apply it before bed. Of course bud, I said. He arrives to work this morning, hands me the tube and says, and I quote... "I don't know what the f*@k is in there, but it WORKS. No pain. Nothing. Like I never rolled it. You should market that!" Now he's getting me to text a picture of it to our first aid lady because he told her it was a miracle “crack cream”. So Jimmy is walking around today like nothing ever happened. My Conclusion: Arnica is useful for the healing of hard and soft tissue, decreases swelling and PAIN and increases blood reabsorption. Available in topical cream or homeopathic preparation. The sooner it is taken or applied after the injury has taken place, the better.
